Apparently the latest firmware 2.0 beta 5 iPhone appears conceal an option whereby you find that the iPhone is 3G.Esta preference is hidden by default.
While the iPhone 2.0 firmware appears to contain 3G code, current iPhone owners will not be able to take advantage of 3G speeds without buying the new iPhone. It appears that Apple will use a firmware for the iPhone and the unprecedented current 3G-capable iPhone.
The 3G-capable iPhone is widely expected to be published in the coming months, possibly at the conference of developers around the world in June
